What Joseph sang to Mary in 2024
Little Music Church was born out of our local church in New Gisborne, Australia.
Modest in size but BIG in heart, our church has a long standing tradition of putting on an annual Christmas play.
So when I’m not writing songs for Little Music Church, I am writing songs for Christmas musicals.
This year my son Jude played the role of Joseph, with his female bestie Eliza playing Mary.
In their big scene Mary cried on Joseph’s shoulder, expressing her concern that her new baby, the Messiah they had all been waiting for, would likely face great suffering in his life.
Joseph’s reply was to sing her this song…
The Moon is Always Round, and God is Always Good.
I am not responsible for this inspired analogy (a friend discovered it in a children’s book by the same name)
But I know it is true.
2024 may have held great trials for you.
Jude’s male bestie, Caleb and his sister Audrey released their mother Julia into Jesus’s arms this year. Our English supporter and world-wide children’s minister David Abbott farewelled his daughter-in-law Emma, mother of Katelynn and Sam, to Heaven mere days ago. Our hearts are with them.
Suffering comes.
And we cannot fully know God’s ways.
But we can know this:
Just as the moon is always round, God is always good.
Always. Good.
This is the hope I want to leave with you and your children as we close 2024.
God is always good.
