Happy Australia Day!

I love Australia Day.

My dad is an Australia Day baby, so every year we make a pilgrimage to celebrate his birthday (and play a family cricket match). My parents live further out in the country than we do and their quaint town still holds an annual Australia Day parade.

Parades! Some might think they’re lame. To me? They’re WONDERFUL!

Marching bands, car club convoys, bagpipes, tractors, free hats and floats on the back of trucks (the local news agency/ Post Office float is always a good ‘un) — I stand with the modest crowd and wave my little Aussie flag with all my heart.

I love the Aussie-ness of it all.

And I love my country.

When I look back over our history, at what lies behind us, I both celebrate and grieve.

And like you, I wonder — what likes ahead?

Today I’ll watch a trundle of flat-bed trucks carrying precious cargo: costumed Aussie kids waving their little flags. My prayer for them will be the same as my prayer for your children and for mine.

May they know Jesus.

May they KNOW Him.

The heart of Little Music Church is to reach this youngest generation for Christ. Yes! To reach as many of these little ones as we can.

That the wonder and truth of God’s character and kingdom may capture the hearts of our youngest Australians.

The more little ones who know God, the better our country will be.

Happy Australia Day!
