Easter is coming…

As I’m sure you’ve noticed… (supermarkets have been flaunting their chocolate bunny hoards for weeks!)

Ahh bunny hoards.

I’m a bit of a soft-touch Scrooge when it comes to Easter chocolate. Most years, I dig my heels in and declare: No! I’m not spending good money on overpriced sugar that will turn my children into crazed little so-and-sos! Especially when their grandparents happily bestow copious amounts of cocoa nectar upon them…

But then… I give in. (Soft touch, see?)

Two reasons:

  1. Half-priced specials (I’m a sucker for a bargain)

  2. The Easter hunt.

That’s the thing—I love the hunt!

Especially as a child, the hunt was the highlight of Easter morning. We weren’t allowed out of bed until Mum or Dad came to get us, so I’d sit there, flipping through my Children’s Bible Storybook, trying to contain my excitement. Then, the moment arrived. Dressing gowns and slippers on, wicker baskets in hand, we’d race into the garden.

How precious is a garden on Easter morning—fresh with beauty and promise?

Easter Hunt Spoils — the Barnes Bunch 2024

My children’s tradition looks a little different. They wake before dawn, bundle up in their warmest clothes, and head up to Mount Macedon, where they stand beneath the towering 20m Memorial Cross to worship Jesus alongside families of believers.

The hunt comes after church.

No matter the tradition, the heart is the same. Easter Sunday is an occasion—one worth remembering, worth celebrating and worth waking up early for!

And I’m so excited that this year, we’re releasing a Little Music Church EASTER EP!

Seven tracks of Easter-themed children’s music, all pointing to Christ—to help you mark the occasion.

Looking forward to celebrating Easter with you!
